Happy New Year
Its is a new decade and I am sitting down at my computer and setting up my holiday cards for the whole year. I have gone online and researched holidays around the world. I have set up websites to reckognize holidays in other cuntries. The first two I am going to try to are for Mom's in the UK and Austrailia. This should be a interesting venture. I will post and let you know how it works.

Its Oct 26 th and the air is crisp and clear. I am looking forward to seeing old friends on Halloween. It means that Thanksgiving is only four weeks away. It will be another chance to send my feelings to freinds and family. I love sending cards.

I am sitting here just thinking of all the great people in my life and I decided to send them all a Halloween card. It took me about 5 minutes to send 95 cards. In the morning they will be printed, put in an envelope, have a real stamp put on the envelope and taken to the Post Office and those special people in my live will know how much I care for them. What makes it all the better is that I am sitting in front of my computer. Everyone in the house is asleep and I won't spend a minute of my day to do any legwork. I won't spend a penny of gas and all the cards will be delivered before next Saterday. I just love sending cards. See how I do it!

The Power of Greeting Cards
When it comes to networking, for many of us, it is not hard to meet new people. You can meet people everywhere; standing on line at the post office, in Starbucks, networking events, the gym, churches, salons, the list is endless. The hard part is taking the next step of keeping in touch and creating a relationship. Relationships are what create clients and bring referrals. They don’t happen overnight and are built over time.
Think about the people in your life that send you clients, are your clients or simply support you in what you do for your business. These are people that you have developed rapport with, who know that you care and the type of service they can expect from you. Are these people that you stay in touch with on a regular basis? Most likely the answer is yes. The secret is simple; you follow-up.
There is an old expression that still holds true which goes something like this: people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. There are many ways to let someone know you care and if you do this, magic happens.
Letting someone know that you care is simply following-up. It is letting that person know that you are thinking about them.
Almost everyone wants to feel appreciated, but how often do most of us feel that way? One of the simplest and easiest ways to let someone know that they are appreciated is to send a greeting card. It is a great way to keep in touch and follow-up so you don’t fall down. It is easy to be creative with a greeting card and since it is “snail mail”, there is a significantly higher chance that it will be opened than if you sent an email which is easy to delete. Most of us love getting mail that is not a bill or an advertisement. It is a welcome surprise in our mailbox. That is true from children to seniors. Business people are no different. When something unexpected comes in the mail, it can be a breath of fresh air if it is from someone who is letting us know they are thinking about us.
A personalized greeting card works because it is unexpected, shows attention to details and communicates your message in a way that is virtually guaranteed to be well received. Smart business people rely heavily on greeting cards and postcards to keep current customers and clients coming back and to attract new ones.
The greeting card industry data shows that the use of greeting cards as a marketing tool can generate a response rate of more than 50% while Forrester Research found that a typical direct mail response rate ranges from .5% to 5%. A 5% increase in customer retention can generate a 50% to 120% increase in profits.
Sending greeting cards adds a warm personal dimension to a business relationship that is lacking in today’s world. A personalized greeting card can show you care and be an invitation to deepening a relationship that can be a win-win for both parties. All it takes is having a system to send out greeting cards as part of your follow-up plan.
Remember that you don’t need a special occasion to send a card and you will find that your relationships will grow as you express yourself to the people that matter to you. The key is personalization and constant touch. Out of sight is out of mind.
Greeting cards can be a great tool for the busy business person who meets many and wants to develop relationships. They can be used as invitations for coffee, to events or simply to say how you feel. The old fashioned way of snail mail with a personal touch still works in this age of technology. The reason is that for most of us, we still do business with the people we know, like and trust. This can not happen without “touch”. Sending greeting cards is one of the best ways that I know to touch someone in growing a relationship that can take a seed into a blossoming tree of new business.
Go plant some seeds of new business today and watch your garden grow with new business, warm friendships and referrals. Send a card today to someone who does not expect it and make someone’s day by letting them know you care. You will be “touched” in ways you never imagined.

Happy New Year
I am excited with the coming of a new year. Not only did my card business exceed my wildest expectations, but I have a new granddaughter who is about to appear on the horizon. We all anticipate her arrival in the next few days. This will be my second granddaughter and I am going to create a custom card to announce her birth. Her older sister is going to be in for a pleasant surprise. She has a "baby" doll of her own and has been very attentive to it. I am sure that she is going to be an exemplary older sister. Visit my website and see how you can create your own custom cards. The site is www.cardsfrombarry.com
